GBS 4.5: External Deal Aggregation, Adaptive Payments, More Reports, IP Logging
The team at Group Buying Site hopes you’re having an awesome summer this year and trying your best to enjoy the weather while growing your business. We admittedly ended up taking a few days off but it didn’t slow us down a bit, we came back refreshed and today we’re releasing version 4.5 of Group Buying Site as well as some additional add-ons to accent the release.
Aggregation Importer and Living Social
Since we started Group Buying Site we’ve been conceptualizing and planning new methods to aggregate deals. Last year we created the Syndication Platform, which allows GBS site owners to syndicate deals with other sites that utilize the GBS platform. Living Social, Groupon and Yipit are some of the most popular daily deals websites in the group buying industry. Each of those sites features a large quantity of daily offerings for deal hungry consumers. The ability to import and aggregate those offers from your GBS powered site is a logical addition to the Group Buying Site platform.
The API Import Framework is built into version 4.5 of the Group Buying Site plugin. Alongside the release of 4.5 will come the first API Importer — Living Social. Groupon and Yipit importers are currently under development and are planned to be released alongside (if not before) version 4.6.
Adaptive Payments API
The launch of version 3.0 of GBS brought Paypal Adaptive Payments and at that time the Adaptive Payments API was lacking. Over the past few years the Adaptive Payments API has been updated and new documentation is available. With the recent launch of CrowdFunding for the GBS platform, the popularity for this payment gateway has risen to the point were we couldn’t wait for the new API’s dust to settle, instead we immediately worked on the Adaptive Payments gateway re-write, adding the requested features for project administrators and pushed our a beta release to our community.
Version 4.5 will bring Adaptive Payments out of beta and offer the much requested percentage based payouts to secondary receivers. Adaptive Payments for GBS will no longer require Paypal’s IPN to authorize payments and instead the new API is used to validate purchases when necessary.
Reporting: Share and Earn, Credit/Reward Purchases and Account Balances
A few new reports have made their way into 4.5 based on their popular suggestions from GBS users..
A new report for credit based purchases can now be found under the Payments section of the administrative panel.
Another report for credit and reward balances as well as a credit activity report can all be found under the Accounts section.
The Little Things
With each purchase the customer’s IP address is now logged. These IP addresses have been added to the Order/Backing admin section as well as within the account’s management screen with the purchases area.
The destroyer has been updated so that when administrators delete deals all related records are deleted (or modified) accordingly. We still don’t suggest ever permanently deleting any deal but GBS has you covered if you’re required to.
Keep an eye out in the marketplace as new add-ons are released regularly and you don’t want to miss out on anything that will help build your client base or improve your customer relationship.
