GBS 4.2 Release: ShipStation Integration, Attribute Dropdowns and Theme Updates
Off the heals of the v4.1 order fulfillment and inventory management improvements, v4.2 serves up a robust ShipStation integration via the newly released ShipStation add-on. The 4.2 updates also include a better user experience for customers purchasing items (deals or products) with attributes and sites that utilize the Crowdfunding and Shop ecommerce themes.
ShipStation is a popular web-based shipping solution that helps you fulfill orders, easily create shipping labels (UPS, FedEx, DHL Global Mail and the US Postal Service), communicate with customers, and sell your products in multiple sales channels (including marketplaces such as Amazon, eBay, Buy.com, and Etsy).
Here’s some of the key benefits of the ShipStation add-on:
- Automatically exports new orders to ShipStation
- Automatically imports updates from ShipStation
- Manually export old orders to ShipStation
- Integration with the Fulfillment add-on to set an appropriate fulfillment status when a item is shipped
Dynamic Attribute Selections
No longer will your customers have to sift through a long list of “labels” (e.g. “Medium – Orange”, “Small – Orange”, “Large – Orange”, “XL – Orange”…etc.). Now the prospective customer can simply select from the “size” and “color” category that he or she wants from the dropdown menu. Upon executing those selections the add-to-cart button and price are dynamically modified via AJAX. You can see this feature in action now on the Prime, Shop or Social Commerce theme demos.
All GBS themes will be getting upgrades to version 2.2 to take advantage or disable this new feature. If you’re using the Prime, Shop or the Social Commerce theme and would like to disable this new option, a short filter will be provided for you in the forums.
Users will now have the ability to unsubscribe or opt-out of specific email notifications. At the bottom of the user’s Account Edit page is a new administration area where they may easily turn such notifications on or off.
Note: The MailChimp subscriptions options have been relocated to this area as well.
Crowdfunding Project Update Notifications
Our Crowdfunding theme gets a highly requested feature addition that allows for project updates to be sent via email to all contributors. With the addition of this feature a new “notification” has been added so that administrators can customize the look and feel of all project updates. As you can see below, the project update notifications can be easily managed through the user’s new e-mail preferences panel.
Crowdfunding and Shop Theme Updates
Based on feedback from the GBS community, our Crowdfunding and Shop themes will receive some major changes to the customer experience in version 2.2. Prior to v2.2 these themes utilized the methodology of an invoice to display the purchase. These invoices have been replaced with a new order template.
